A Simple Farmhouse Christmas Tablescape

I tucked away several large totes of Christmas decor last year. Filled with lanterns, beads, faux greenery and so much more they spent an entire year locked away in storage. I drug them out this year and realized that there was nothing in them that I wanted to use.

I wanted simple and beautiful. I began thinking about what I could use to create from nature that would continue a theme of a simple Christmas throughout our home.

My husband cuts wood for our home to burn in the winter so I asked if he could cut some wood slices for me to use as decor. He asked what size and I went out to show him what I needed. The only items I used to put this together was some fresh Cedar branches, white taper candles and wood slices from logs. I used a little bit of glue to put my candles on the wood but you could also drill holes to sit the candles down in.

I laid down a piece of linen fabric on the table and a larger wood slice in the middle. Then I placed one of the smaller slices of wood with a candle on top of the bigger one. I took some of the fresh Cedar greenery and clipped them into small pieces to lay around the wood slices.

I positioned the other small wood slices with the taper candles out to the side of the larger one to provide some height difference. Then I continued to place the greenery until I got the look that I wanted. You can use as much or as little as you desire.

This is a very simple idea of decorating for Christmas that provides a beautiful tablescape in very little time and with very little money.

If you don't have access to free wood slices you can purchase them at a local craft store.
